A modern interior — inside a true log cabin
Log homes are their own trade. The walls aren’t framed and drywalled — they’re solid timber, which means every cabinet run, every electrical rough-in, and every stair connection has to work with the logs rather than against them. Most remodelers either avoid log homes entirely or flatten their character under drywall. This project did neither: the cabin kept every bit of its timber character, and gained a kitchen that would look at home in a brand-new custom build.
Scope
Fully modern kitchen: White quartz island and counters, sage-green shaker cabinetry, stainless appliances, and pendant lighting — all fitted beneath the cabin’s exposed log beams.
New staircase: Pine treads with iron balusters — craftsmanship that matches the cabin’s timber character instead of fighting it.
Great room & loft: Stained-pine walls and ceiling refinished throughout the two-story great room, preserving the cabin’s warmth from the stone fireplace up to the loft rail.
